Village Facilities and Amenities

Darrington Parish Council takes pride in helping to maintain and care for some of the facilities and amenities around the village. This includes benches, planters and lamp post baskets, as well as supporting the provision of publicly accessible defibrillators.

Benches

The village benches have been provided by Darrington Parish Council and are maintained by a local village craftsman, with the cost of maintenance funded by the Parish Council.

Planters

The village planters and lamp post baskets are funded by Darrington Parish Council. The winter planting is carried out by Parish Councillors, helping to keep the village looking bright and welcoming throughout the colder months.

Defibrillators

There are three publicly accessible defibrillators located around Darrington:

  • The Spread – mounted on the wall of the pub.
  • Estcourt Road – located in the old telephone box.
  • Valley Road – mounted on the wall of Holme Cottage, next to the Air Crash Memorial.

All three defibrillators form part of the scheme operated by Pontefract Civic Trust, helping to provide vital emergency equipment within the village.

Notice Boards

There are two village notice boards:

  • Estcourt Road - next to the bus stop just north of The Spread
  • Valley Road - at the bottom of the south exit slipway of the A1
